This Saturday (9/6/2014) we will have samples of one of the oldest and most popular Italian cheeses: Grana Padano. This cheese has a history that goes back almost 900 years, when it was first made by the Cistercian monks of Chiaravalle Abbey. It can last a long time without spoiling (up to two years), and has a distinctive grainy texture. Come check it out!

“Back in 1961-62 I lived on the west side of Cleveland. My husband's family is Italian, and we shopped at Gallucci's. I remember the yellow cheeses hanging from the ceiling, the barrels of olives, and the crates of salted cod. Most of all I remember the wonderful smells! Too bad those can't be put online. Maybe someday!”
